FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


1.   How much horsepower does it take to pull a Seed Hawk?
Our horsepower requirement is 5 HP per shank. With multiple tanks and very hilly land the horsepower requirement is 6 HP per shank.

2.   How durable are your packer tires and are they air filled?
Our packer tires are 4 ply tires and they are pneumatic.

3.   Do you offer mud scrapers for the packer wheels?
Yes, they are available as an option.

4.   Do you have trash deflectors?
Yes, they are available as an option. 

5.   Are your knives carbide tipped?
Yes, all of our knives are carbide tipped. They should last up to five times longer than a set of cultivator shovels.

6.   What bearings do you have in your packer wheels?
We have five bolt hubs with greasable tapered wheel bearings.

7.   Do all your tanks have two fans?
Not at all of them. They are optional on the 400 model tanks and standard on the 600 and 800 models.

8.   Can you hook use any brand of air cart with your Seed Hawk toolbar?
Yes, our toolbar is compatible with all tanks.

9.  Are your air tanks pressurized?
Yes, we have had pressurized tanks since 2004.

10.  Do you have to change meter rollers for different crops?
No, you do not have to change rollers.  We have helical cut rollers that are able to meter most seeds and granular fertilizer.  (Some large seed pea varieties require an optional larger roller)

11.  Does your Twin Wing seed knife disturb more soil than your single side band?
The Twin Wing knife is 3" wide. A larger knife will disturb more soil creating more draft than our 1/2" single side band knife.

12.  How much hydraulic oil flow does your drill require to operate?
The toolbar requires 5 gpm while seeding, 9 gpm are required while lifting and turning on headlands.  

13.  How much hydraulic oil flow do your fans take?
Each tank fan requires 8 - 13.5 gallons per minute.

14.  Do you have options for tire sizes?
Yes, we have many tire upgrades available. Contact your dealer for the different sizes.

15.  What is your rear wheel steering option?
The rear steering option turns the rear wheels up the hill automatically so that skewing is minimized and all seed rows are evenly spaced apart.  A customer would purchase rear wheel steering if they seed land that is very steep.
